SAI : Starry Sky Tutorial by uchuubranko SAI : Starry Sky Tutorial by uchuubranko
I'm so sorry for my Engurishuuu really omg :iconomgcryplz:
I'm definitely not good at explaining things :iconcryforeverplz: but still I hope it helps somehow....:iconoelplz:
- Feel free to ask questions! :happybounce: I'll do my best in answering what I know.
- It's not a tutorial suited for beginners with SAI, but if you still want to try, I suggest to search first a tutorial that explains the SAI TOOLS well such as :
- I'm just showing the way I draw stars in SAI, there sure are more ways, and you're not obligated to follow it strictly! *U*
- I'd appreciate linking back something you drew using this tutorial, but it's not obligatory. :thanks::heart:

I'm sorry for that ugly star appearing there and there, I had to draw it. I HAD TO. :iconpapmingplz:

thanks so much for looking!:love:

I'm trying my hardest to figure out what you mean by "pen" tool... all I have on normal layers is pencil, and that doesn't form that glowing halo, and neither does the pen on the lining layer. I don't know if you're using some other tool which isn't listed there like the airbrush to place glows over the spots, but whatever you're doing, my SAI doesn't have access to it.

glowing halo? :? maybe you're referring to the glowing stars I drew directly on the tutorial BG (blue) and not the SAI canvas (dark blue) ?
the shining stars are drawn directly on the tut sheet with PS > layer style(see below), just to show what kind if shape it's good for them to be :) otherwise for my SAI stars, I always use the Pen tool at full opacity. For the glow (on SAI canvas) I use airbrush tool like explained in tut.

Layer > Layer Style > Drop Shadow or Outer Glow.

i'd like to ask, how does starlight affect the lighting of the rest of the picture? if there were only stars at light sources, what would the colors look like? thanks for any feedback ; w ;//

very very dim lights xD The startlight (usually) has merely the role of defining a dark (human or anything) shape on the night sky :aww: and that's thanks to the dotted pattern of millions of stars :XD:

static.squarespace.com/static/…
www.wallpapervortex.com/wallpa…

but art is free of any normal boundaries :eager: you could try to make a high contrast / dark-shadows with very dim lights on humans and that would be not too far from reality :la:

Great tutorial - just one question?
When trying to do the color layer with a new Luminosity layer, it won't let color show, it just stays the same. I was just wondering what I could do to fix this?

sorry for the late reply! :la:

maybe your layer order is at fault?  try moving the background below the Luminosity layers, or check out to see if you have "lock layer" checked as it won't let you colour on a new space. :)
