</EDIT>

the following image :

" the little angel who is spreading the hand is Earth's angel, the one who was supposed to deliver the Earth to Heaven when it naturally dies. But due to human negligence and pollution, the Earth's destruction came earlier than expected. The angel who is still immature and not ready, doesn't know what to do. The Earth won't see Heaven. And thus the following drawing came to life. tralala~ :iconballooonplz: "
Ok, what on Earth am I even saying…:iconfacepalmplz:

My real first critique, and I'm glad I've chosen this deviation to do it on. I had planned on a critique earlier, but never did. So here, take it now. The idea of this is very original and believable. Really gets the message out there. The art, I don't even know where to start. The colors, just how everything is drawn and done in general is beautiful. The picture is actually kind of depressing, because it gives off a sad aura, which I assume is what you were going for. But all in all, this is an amazing piece of art.

This piece of artowrk is very impressive. With great symbolisim for us all. The colour mix bring out a magical feel to the moment of release. With the angel between the polluted earth and the starry sky above. The artisits description of the earth dying to early by pollution, with it unable to enter heaven is thoughtful and moving.

The detail of the earth in the released balloon, and the face of the angel is beautiful. The blue sky mixed against the brown/pink earth is a good opposite effect too.

Overall I like the atmosphere, the detail, the use of colour, the symbolism and the effects.

O ye, of little hope!

I'm torn between the fact that this is a beautiful picture and the fact that I find it kind of insulting.

Yeah, sorry. I know I shouldn't take this personally. I totally respect your point of view, but I hope you can now respect mine:

This kind of reminds me of the concept of collective guilt. This sentence: "But due to human negligence and pollution, the Earth's destruction came earlier than expected." is what did it. I genuinely don't want this to happen, and I am doing everything I can to prevent it, yet this sentence suggests that it's my fault too since I'm human.

No matter how much pollution mankind pumps into the atmosphere, even if we cut down every last tree and detonate every nuclear bomb ever made, there is just no way we can destroy this planet. In it's past, Earth has dealt with natural disasters much greater than anything we ever made, and it survived. Worst case scenario, we change the climate so much that 90% of life on earth (including us) dies out, but the other 10% (or even 0.01%) will adapt, survive and evolve, and the legacy of life will continue in it's new environment, which will probably change back after a few million years or so, with just as many species as there is today.

Another thing that bugs me is that it suggests that humanity would actually let this happen. In the past I have been coming across a lot of content on this site (and other places) which suggests that humanity is flawed and unchangeable and it will bring upon its own destruction.

I've noticed that a lot of this content comes from countries with powerful governments like America and China. People there seem so convinced that things that are now will stay like this forever, because the atmosphere there is as such. I on the other hand come from a place where everything changes every five minutes, so I don't have such a doomy luck on the world.

I don't know, maybe I just understand human nature better than others, or maybe others don't want to believe me when I say that mankind is not bad, in fact, it's the best!
When an animal sees another animal in trouble, his/her first instinct is to ignore it or eat it. Some animals will help others of their kin, while others would torture their pray to death, but I don’t know any other creature on Earth except humans that would consider selflessly saving another creatures life. It’s true that some people wouldn’t do that, but some of us devoted their entire lives to helping other creatures. No other animal considers its actions, let alone the actions of its entire species, the way we do.

We cut down trees, but we plant trees too. Nature would not have created us if it didn’t need us. The only way this planet will be destroyed is when the Sun grows and consumes it. But by then mankind would have safely transported life to a new home, or just towed, or teleported the whole planet to a new star.

There are a lot of problems with mankind right now, but there is nothing that can’t be fixed, but it won’t fix itself, we need to do it, and we want to do it, and we can do it. It’s just art like this that convinces people that we won’t and can’t do it. I know you don’t mean that, but that’s what I see in this picture, and that is why I found it insulting.

I hope I cleared this out now, and I hope you’re not angry with me, because I’m not angry with you, I just can’t stand all the constant pessimism. I actually think you’re a great artist and a neat person; it’s why I follow you.

So, yeah. Sorry for making such an unnecessarily long ran of a comment, but I really needed to get this off my chest. Spam and hide this comment if you don’t like it, I won’t mind.
